Frequently Asked Questions
What do you mean by "early piano technique"?
Your child will practice the essentials of piano playing (hand position, scale and fingering patterns, hand independence and coordination, understanding staff notation, etc.), so they will be well-prepared to continue studying piano later if they choose to learn more.
My child has already taken some piano lessons. Should we still sign up for Level 1?
Our Level 1 curriculum has specific objectives that must be achieved before the student can progress to Level 2. Your child may have already learned these skills in their previous classes. Reach out to us to schedule a trial meeting with the instructor so we can see which Level would be the best fit.
I'm not sure my kid will like piano. Should we sign up?
Your explorer will learn music concepts that are applicable to any instrument and carry this knowledge with them, whether or not they go on to study piano in the future. Piano is an excellent visual and tactile tool to learn Western music theory concepts in a hands-on, interactive manner. And piano avoids the hurdle of not being able to produce sound right away, which is often one of the most frustrating parts of learning music for kids.
Think of this series as a well-designed, comprehensive introduction to music and music-making using piano as the medium.
We're not available for the times when my child's age group meets. Can we sign up for the other age group?
We want to make sure your child’s class (and peers) are a good fit for one another. Reach out to [email protected] to discuss and possibly schedule a trial class before you enroll.
What if we must miss a class?
Fees will not be adjusted for individual missed classes, but you can request to sit in a makeup class at an alternative timeslot if space allows. In the event a class is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, we will notify you and schedule a suitable makeup date.
Do you offer discounts?
If the cost of this program will prevent your explorer from participating, there are financial aid options available for qualified applicants. Please reach out to [email protected].
